Dear Members,

Last night the Board of RANZCO met and discussed the likely effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the RANZCO Congress. After careful deliberation, we are unfortunately announcing that the 2020 RANZCO Scientific Congress will be postponed. This decision was not taken lightly.

Work has already commenced on the 2021 Congress which we hope will be held in Brisbane in line with the usual Congress timing. We ask that you be patient as we arrange the details.

Details of the 2020 RANZCO Annual General Meeting, which is traditionally held on the first morning of the Congress, will be released in due course. It is anticipated this will be a virtual AGM which is allowed for in the RANZCO Constitution. In June this year, the Council will vote on a President-elect. The handover of Presidents traditionally occurs at Congress and again, will be a virtual handover with the ceremonial aspects to occur in 2021. For Fellows, Trainees and SIMGs hoping to participate in the Graduation Ceremony in 2020, arrangements will be made to ensure this occurs in 2021.

We understand the Congress is an important component of College membership and it is disappointing that the opportunity it affords to learn, network and catch up will not be available this year. For anyone needing support, please contact the College's EAP service (1300 687 327 in Australia and 0800 666 367 in New Zealand) or get in touch via ranzco@ranzco.edu.

We would like to thank Christine Younan, Chair of the Scientific Program Committee, and the many Fellows involved in developing the program to date. This work will not be wasted as we look to replicate the program for 2021.

We will provide further information when it becomes available. We look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Stay safe.

Kind regards,

RANZCO
